Sunset Tower Renovation

Originally constructed in 1930 as an apartment building, the National Register landmark Sunset Tower was converted to a hotel in 1989. Its new ownership asked Levin-Morris to create a master plan to improve the public spaces, while undoing inappropriate faux Art Deco details from 1989. A non-original porte cochere was removed and the entry, lobby and bar were reorganized and redesigned in conjunction with the hotel’s interior designer, creating an elegant, walnut-paneled environment. The pool terrace and adjoining restaurant were also redesigned, with a series of doors that fully open the restaurant to the terrace. Other work included redecorating guest rooms and bathrooms, and splitting some suites into individual rooms.
